Top 5 Reasons Why I Love My Smartphone…

I have owned my Palm Treo 700p Smartphone for about eight months now and absolutely love it! I purchased this phone when it was first released with Sprint. I paid right around $500 for this phone, and that is with a two year contract. The 700p has since come down in price to $ 299 with a new contract. There are a lot of you out there that don’t feel you need to shell out a few hundred bucks for such a device, but in reality you may actually use it more than you think you would. Below are the top 5 reasons that I love my Smartphone.

On Demand Content: One of the many applications on the 700p is the On Demand link. From here, you can get the latest news headlines, sports scores, weather updates, TV Guide listings and even maps. I didn’t anticipate I would use On Demand much when I first purchased the Treo, but I have made it a habit to read up on the latest news headlines each night before I fall asleep.

Text Messaging: Love it or hate it, texting has literally blown up over the past couple of years. Granted, any cell phone can send and receive text messages…but not many can do so this gracefully. Text messaging on the 700p is much like instant messaging on a computer, where as the conversation is kept in a log. The full QWERTY keyboard on the smartphone also helps to speed things up when typing out messages.

Broadband Internet: Thanks to Sprint’s high-speed EVDO network, you can surf the internet on your 700p at a very reasonable speed. Having the internet on my cell phone has come in handy countless times. Checking email or your favorite website has has never been easier, and you can do so almost anywhere you have a wireless signal. You can even use the 700p as a broadband modem for your laptop. I used this feature during our trip to CES to post updates while on the road!

Music: Who needs an iPod when your smartphone is a very capable music and video player? Media files are stored on an SD card. I have a 2 GB card in my phone which is more than enough to hold a pretty large collection of my favorite mp3s.

Photos: Besides being able to handle music and video files, the Treo 700p also makes a great digital photo album. You can upload photos from your computer or take your own using the built-in camera on the phone.

These are only a few of the many options that I use on my smartphone on a daily basis. After owning this phone, I could never go back to a “regular” cell phone… I have become spoiled!
